Yule (December 20-23)

A time of awakening
welcome the new and the possible

Evergreen symbol of life continues
Mistletoe symbol of fertility, lovers, and the seed of the God
Holly and Ivy invoke protection and good fortune
reindeer symbolize the Horned God
red, green, silver, and gold
Fire, Earth, the Moon, and the Sun

Burn Yule log to represent the fire of returning Sun
burn bayberry candles for prosperity
write wishes on bay leaves and throw into fire
bake cookies or bread using cinnamon
make a wreath to symbolize the Wheel of the Year
pinecones as the God and fruits as the Goddess
decorate Yule tree with images to invoke the blessings
fruits and nuts for abundance
heart-shaped charms for love
feathers for inspiration
coins for prosperity

write a list of wishes
tuck into a special box
leave it undisturbed until next Yule
then open it and read the list
find that most, if not all
of the desires will have manifest

stay up and watch the sunrise
toast the returning Sun King
with hot ginger-spiced cider
